2004 Content Presentations

The eMedia Screening will offer content intended to meet the needs of an ever-changing education environment. Content presentations will be viewed and evaluated by education managers at public television stations, departments of education, media centers, and educational service agencies. Detailed information about all presentations will be available on the Instructional Technology Marketplace website (www.itmonline.com).

Typical Presentations include:

bullet A series of two or more related instructional programs sharing a common title.

bullet Programs of the same general length (within 5 minutes of each other) or that vary in excess of 5 minutes of each other.

bullet Series/programs in the same subject area and for the same grade level.
bullet

Series/programs may have appropriate supplemental support materials designed to facilitate use by the intended users.

bullet

New programs added to existing series.

bullet

Series/programs already in distribution that have significant relevance to current educational needs.

bullet

Single programs designed for instructional use or professional development.

Presentation Guidelines

A screening system will be used that maintains high quality presentation of content while reducing technical and staffing resources.

bullet Previews will be digitally encoded and screened with large screen projection video equipment. Presentations must be submitted on BetaCam, DVCPro, DVCam or BetaSP by July 9, 2004, to Classroom Video for conversion to digital format for presentation. Entries not submitted by this date will not be screened and entry fees will not be refunded.

bullet Complete details are posted online. For further information, contact Michelle Flamos at NETA, 803-799-5517.

bullet Presenters are encouraged to show full programs or program segments as opposed to “promos.” “Promos” or composite tapes are not eligible for SatScreen 2004.

bullet “Orphan” materials mailed in with no appointed representative to present them, will not be presented. In the event of extenuating circumstances, the case for exception may be presented to the National Advisory Committee for a final decision.

bullet Presentations can only deal with official entries. Anything handed out or displayed in the screening room must relate specifically to official entries.

bullet No screening will take place except in the official program screening room during official program screening times or as provided at exhibit spaces.

bullet Presenters may not have entertaining suites where viewers may be distracted from other presentations.
Screening Time

bullet Presenters are limited to 20 entries.

bullet Screening time is limited to 14 hours.

bullet Presentation time for any presenter submitting more than one entry will be scheduled in a block according to the order submitted online on the Distributor Entry Form.

bullet If the total screening time for all entries exceeds 14 hours, entries already in distribution but with no new content may be eliminated and fees refunded except when an entry is the only one for a presenter.

bullet Then, if still necessary, entries already in distribution with new content may be eliminated and fees refunded.

Time Purchase

bullet If the total screening time for all entries is at least two hours less than 14 hours, to be determined after the June 11 entry deadline, presenters may purchase additional 5-minute blocks (at $250 each) to expand their presentation for their official entries.

bullet Time purchase is available on a first come first serve basis, according to their point balance. Requests from presenters with the same point balance will be determined by lottery.

Enforcement of Policies

bullet A point system is used to determine the screening schedule.

bullet Presenters receive one point for each year of screening participation, dating back to FirstView ’84. One point was also given for Underwriting in 2002.

bullet Any item in violation of policies will be removed from the screening and points will be deducted for each infraction.
Special Note

National Advisory Committee members are not allowed to endorse product (except their own) by wearing apparel or displaying promotional items.
