Let's All Sing
32 Fifteen
Minute Programs
Grades: Primary
Curriculum: Music
The purpose of this series is to encourage musical
growth. The lessons invite the students to experience the joys of
making music and sensitively listening to music. Children are
encouraged to sing along, participate in rhythmic movement, and
improvise with words, tunes, and simple instruments.
The programs present an appealing variety of songs and instruments,
largely selected from our folk heritage. Basic instruction in music
concepts is supplemented with materials and experiences generally
not available in the classroom.
It is hoped that the total process of preparation, viewing, and
follow-up will aid in the development of interest and enthusiasm
among the children, which will affect their entire musical life,
both in and outside of school. While the programs include the
learning of songs, the awareness of tone quality, pitch
discrimination, rhythmic sensitivity, rhythmic movement, the
demonstration of instruments, improvisation and the like, the
philosophy behind Let's All Sing emphasizes the development
of musical attitudes as crucial, and of far greater importance than
any given unit of information or degree of skill.
